Girl. Let’s talk.

Need something fresh for your event? I am condensing nonfiction content from my book, Francesca, the Fabulous Feminist Flamingo: The Book on Beauty, into presentation format. If you want educational, eye-opening entertainment that will leave you feeling so empowered, you might just go flip a dump truck-I’m your girl. I would LOVE to share all the information I learned during my research process, and I would LOVE to speak at your event. I am currently speaking for free to refine my talk and gain experience.

Photos from my talk at OUT Newburgh/Beacon’s mixer event. No one threw tomatoes, and a good time was had by all.

THE PAPERBACK IS FINALLY HERE!

If you’re a subversive feminist with a hunger for smarts coupled with astonishing graphics, this [book] is right up your alley.
— Barbara Rosenblat, actress, Orange is the New Black

In this lighthearted romp, Julia Green manages to take a fun, healthy and, yes, serious, perspective on a dizzying array of often unhealthy beauty ideals and practices around the world, while still managing to be respectful of the importance and value these ideals have for the people who practice them.
— Rebecca Popenoe, author of Feeding Desire

Facts and fabulousness make for non-boring nonfiction.

Feminism. Patriarchy. Beauty. Bad puns. An author and her unruly brainchild (Francesca, the fabulous feminist flamingo) come together for a picture book collab that will leave you feeling so empowered that you might just flip a dump truck.

Francesca the Fabulous Feminist Flamingo takes us on an extraordinary journey into the history and ideology behind the thing everyone wants and no one understands: BEAUTY.

Learn about blackened teeth in Japan. Force-feeding in the Sahara. Victorian Era tuberculosis chic. Educational and entertaining, this PG-13 picture book will take you around the world and across the ages. Francesca is a wide-lens view of the flippant, ever-changing nature of beauty standards and our bad habit of trying to meet them.
